Three Catholic dioceses in northern England have proposed merging into one amid declining numbers. Bishop Marcus Stock has submitted a report to Pope Leo XIV recommending the unification of Leeds, Middlesbrough and Hallam, which together serve approximately 496,000 Catholics in 193 parishes. Monsignor Stock, Bishop of Leeds since 2014, also serves as Apostolic Administrator of Middlesbrough and Hallam. The recommendation follows an extensive consultation involving priests, deacons, religious communities, lay Catholics, diocesan councils, trustees and Catholic schools. Nine in-person meetings were held, and an online questionnaire received 840 responses. The consultation found broad support among clergy and openness among lay Catholics to unification, provided local identities are respected. Diocesan leaders unanimously supported recommending the merger to Rome. The proposal comes amid declining participation and clergy numbers. Between 2000 and 2025, Mass attendance fell by 52%, baptisms …níos mó

Katie Zacharia Is Out After 5 Days as White House Press Secretary nytimes.com/…politics/katie-zacharia-fired-press-… The ouster came as Ms. Zacharia was shadowed by questions about how she had presented her legal career and handled her first press briefing. By Shawn McCreeshTyler Pager and Hamed Aleaziz Oct. 16, 2026, 1:33 p.m. ET President Trump’s new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, was fired Friday, after less than a week on the job, according to three people familiar with the matter. Neither the White House nor Ms. Zacharia responded to requests for comment. But Mr. Trump told reporters on Friday that he had encouraged Ms. Zacharia to “reconsider” the job. “Honestly, if I were you, I’d reconsider,” he said, recounting his conversation with his press secretary. He added: “Katie, do you need this? I don’t think you need this.” Ms. Zacharia had gotten off to a bumpy start with her first and final press briefing on Tuesday, followed by an onslaught of headlines about whether she had …níos mó
Behind a White House Feud That Is Bitter Even by Trump-Era Standards nytimes.com/…tics/alina-habba-mildon-richard-gren… Two Trump allies — Alina Habba Mildon and Richard Grenell — are locked in a raging dispute that has its roots in the battle for a share of the spoils in Venezuela. By Tyler Pager and Anatoly Kurmanaev Oct. 15, 2026 The accusations were shocking. Alina Habba Mildon, who had been one of President Trump’s personal lawyers, stormed into the Oval Office last week intent on taking down another prominent ally of the president. Her target was Richard Grenell, who had earlier served as Mr. Trump’s special envoy to Venezuela and as head of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Mrs. Mildon had just married a Turkish investor, Turhan Mildon, who has extensive business holdings in Venezuela. He had been in regular contact with Mr. Grenell the previous year both about Venezuela and about supporting the Kennedy Center. But now Mrs. Mildon was telling Mr. Trump that …níos mó
Something is not right with this of course. As the Russian soldiers go into each section of a town destroyed, mainly by Zelensky and his men which i have posted time and time again. Behind them are trucks and ambulances, builders and aid for the people in the area. Also I have posted of the Chechen soldiers going in and dropping off aid as they advanced and taking the people out of the area as well. And of course I also posted how the Ukrainians who were left behind were being attacked by Ukraine! While the Russians were trying to drop off food and water to them. One was from a drone. Besides Putin and Russia doesn't need anyone to tell them what to do. What is right and so on. They already know and the only ones doing something about it all.

How the Jews Changed Catholic Thinking| From “Look” Magazine, Volume 30 No. 2 by Joseph Roddy January 25, 1966 madbaron | For the simple tenets of their faith, most Roman Catholics rely on the catechism’s hard questions and imprimatured answers. Children in Church schools memorize its passages, which they rarely forget the rest of their lives. In the catechism, they learn that Catholic dogma does not change and, far more vividly, that Jews killed Jesus Christ. Because of that Christian concept, for the past 20 centuries anti- Semitism spread as a kind of social disease on the body of mankind. Its incidence rose and fell, but anti-Semites were never quite out of style. The ill-minded who argued all other matters could still join in contempt for Jews. It was a gentlemen’s agreement that carried into Auschwitz. Few Catholics were ever directly taught to hate Jews. Yet Catholic teaching could not get around the New Testament account that Jews provoked the Crucifixion. The gas chambers were …níos mó
Bishop Heiner Wilmer, chairman of the German Bishops’ Conference, confirms that Holy Communion for divorced and civilly remarried Catholics was discussed “at length and with some controversy” during the Vatican meeting marking ten years of Amoris laetitia. The discussions took place in Bishop Wilmers Italian-speaking working group, which included Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández and bishops from China, Mongolia, Poland, Mexico and elsewhere. Bishop Wilmer said differing views on the relationship between canon law and the pastoral approach of Amoris laetitia “became clear.”

Cardinal Vesco: Netanyahu Wants the Palestinian People to “Disappear” During the Consistory, Leo XIV told the cardinals, “Support me, stand with me in this battle against war,” pro-homosexual Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco of Algiers told IlMessaggero.it on August 23. Questioning the “Just War” Cardinal Vesco questioned the Christian concept of a just war, arguing that “for those who are fighting, their own war is always just.” While acknowledging a right to self-defense, he asked, “But up to what point?” “In any case, war itself is not just. In the end, we no longer know where to draw the line.” Israel and its “Settlements, Settlements, Settlements” On Gaza, CardinalVesco recalled living in Jerusalem for two years and visiting Gaza several times during the Intifada: “I experienced the checkpoints and saw with my own eyes the humiliation they represented. Today it is much worse.” Even then, he said, it was difficult to believe in a two-state solution because the Israeli authorities did not …níos mó

There is no worldly solution for the Middle East crisis. There will only be peace when the Jews acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and accept Him as their Lord and Savior. Then there will be peace.

So what exactly are the Seven Noahide Laws, and why should Christians be paying attention? Unlike the Ten Commandments, the Noahide Laws are not commandments specifically for the Jewish people. Within rabbinic Judaism, they are understood as universal laws given by God to the descendants of Noah, which means, effectively, all of humanity. They are: 1. Do not worship idols 2. Do not blaspheme God 3. Do not murder 4. Do not steal 5. Do not engage in prohibited sexual relations 6. Do not eat flesh taken from a living animal 7. Establish courts of justice At first glance, most people would probably consider these perfectly reasonable moral principles. Don’t murder, don’t steal, establish justice… But there is a fundamental question hidden within them that Christians in particular need to understand. Who defines “idolatry”? Because Judaism does not recognise Jesus Christ as God or as the Messiah, and within classical rabbinic Judaism there are authorities who regarded Christian worship of …níos mó
