Again a desecration at St. Peter's Basilica: In the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament in Saint Peter’s, dark-skinned adult man threw to the ground everything on the altar — candlesticks, the monstrance and altar cloths — forcing the chapel to be evacuated and closed. The incident occurred on 17 January, during Eucharistic Adoration. This was at least the fourth recent act of desecration in the basilica in recent years. Taken together, these episodes point to weakened vigilance, reduced security and delayed responses inside the Basilica.

On January 13, the Sicilian bishops officially met with representatives of two homosexual propaganda groups, Cristiani LGBT+ Sicilia and In Viaggio per Emmaus.
