Today, Leo XIV has appointed Monsignor Paolo Andreolli, until now auxiliary bishop of Belém, as the new Bishop of Ponta de Pedras, Brazil. Born in Italy in 1972, Andreolli is a Xaverian missionary who has worked in Brazil's Amazon region since 2007. He was consecrated auxiliary bishop of Belém on April 15, 2023. Footage of that consecration shows a ceremonial pagan gesture toward the end of the liturgy inside the cathedral. A man raises and shakes a ritual tool, a maracá-like rattle, over the newly consecrated bishop, performing an Indigenous-style ritual blessing. A globe representing the Earth is also presented. Earlier statements: In 2017, Bishop Andreolli referred to the Earth as “Mother Earth”. In another 2017 article, he praised the ultra-progressive bishops Erwin Kräutler and Pedro Casaldáliga as prophetic examples of commitment to human liberation. Andreolli served as a local organizer of the initiative ‘Church Towards COP30’, mobilizing Church organizations ahead of the UN …მეტი

He looks gay, just like the Slovak guy from yesterday. Luckily, the Mexican and the Guatemalan don’t have any skeletons in their closets, but most of Leo’s picks are terrible.
Leo XIV-appointed bishop wants women to preach at Mass. Bishop Beat Grögli of St. Gallen, Switzerland, has defended the practice of women delivering homilies at Mass, although canon law defines the homily as an inherent part of the liturgy. Kath.ch reported on October 8 that Bishop Grögli told a group of women that this prohibited practice had existed in his diocese for nearly 50 years. He suggested that reversing the practice would be incomprehensible. Grögli described the theological arguments against women preaching as “weak,” adding: “Honestly, I have never understood them.” He considers “the female perspective in preaching an enrichment.” Asked whether his position constituted disobedience, he pointed to ongoing discussions with Rome. Canon 767 §1 reserves the homily at Mass to priests and deacons. The Vatican's 2004 instruction Redemptionis Sacramentum states that lay homilies at Mass cannot acquire legitimacy through longstanding custom. Pope Leo XIV appointed Grögli Bishop of …მეტი

Bebo’s FriendsThe headquarters of the world's largest oil company, Aramco, in the city of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, is on fire. The strike was carried out by Yemeni Ansar Allah (Houthis), because the Saudi Royal Air Force ignored their warning and continued bombing their capital, Sana’a. In response, strikes hit not only the Saudi Aramco headquarters (which has "temporarily closed" and sent employees to work remotely), but also one of their oil refineries and the world's largest oil field, Ghawar.

China unilaterally chooses a bishop, and Leo XIV retroactively “appoints” him. The Vatican press service announced today that Father Ignatius Ding Zuyao, 40, was consecrated Bishop of Haimen, in China's Jiangsu province. He is now the youngest bishop worldwide. Leo XIV reportedly confirmed his appointment on 24 August 2026. However, Ding was selected unilateral on 14 May 2026 by the Chinese selection process - 102 days before the alleged "appointment" by Leo XIV. Ding was consecrated by Bishop Joseph Shen Bin of Shanghai. The latter is vice-president of the Chinese governmental ‘Patriotic Association’. During Ding's consecration, the secretary-general of the Chinese Bishops' Conference read the approval document issued by that body. During an episcopal consecration in the Church, the papal bull is read - not so today. Furthermore, AsiaNews.it highlights a pattern in China's episcopal appointments. Ding is the youngest bishop in the world. Four of the five bishops appointed in China in …მეტი

Forgáč’s emphasizing that a person’s story “may not fit into a concrete paragraph” also indicates a tendency toward applying a situational ethic or pastoral exceptions that effectively set aside universal moral principles of the natural law and divine positive law.
Leo XIV appoints prelate to major Archdicoese in Slovakia. Today, Pope Leo XIV appointed Monsignor Marek Forgáč, 52, as Archbishop of Košice, Slowakia. He has been Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Košice since 2016. Košice has nearly 500 priests and 700k Catholics. A psychologist with a doctorate in social psychology, Archbishop Forgáč considers psychology to be a source of truth. In a 2024 interview, he recalled meeting a homosexual man whom several priests had refused to receive. Deeply moved by his “suffering”, Forgáč listened to the homosexual and gave him a blessing. When asked about blessings for homosexuals, the bishop emphasised compassion and the importance of pro-homosexual psychology: “Psychology helps us greatly, not only in our concrete approach to a person, but also in understanding the truth.” After admitting that there “are universal norms” he added a “but” to say that “we need to see the concrete person standing before us.” “Sometimes that person's story may …მეტი

Pope Leo Walking, Celebrating Mass as Doctors Await Crucial Biopsy Results | SG News Pope Leo XIV is making steady progress at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital following successful surgery for lung adenocarcinoma, according to the latest updates from the Vatican. The 71-year-old Pope underwent surgery on October 13 to remove the lower lobe of his right lung after doctors detected a small, localized nodule during recent medical examinations. His doctors now say postoperative recovery is proceeding as expected. Blood tests and a chest X-ray carried out after surgery produced results within the expected range for this type of operation. Pope Leo has begun walking around his hospital room, resumed eating normally and started respiratory physiotherapy — an important part of recovery following lung surgery. The Holy Father has also returned to prayer and liturgical life. The Vatican confirmed that Pope Leo concelebrated Holy Mass in a specially prepared room on the hospital’s 10th floor. He has also …მეტი
